All of us, irrespective of our color, culture, sex, religion, education, profession or citizenship, spontaneously aspire to have perpetual joyfulness in our lives.
However, free unbiased observation all around us indicates that almost every one is suffering.
Suffering is the same; stories or situations are different from person to person. Inner toxins such as worries, anxieties, fears, deep attachments/expectations, anger, ego/pride, jealousies, judgements and hatred appear to be blocking the general well-being and progress of an overwhelming majority of people.
Our "advanced" society supposedly offers answers to every problem, but it appears that we can't, or won't, apply our resources, knowledge and energy to solve our own day-to-day dilemmas.
In recent self-empowerment and meditation sessions I led in Waterloo and Toronto, participants offered the following list of things that make life worth living:- Connecting with people and nature - Helping others (including animals and people) selflessly--and enjoying it - Setting and achieving goals - Responding to situations calmly - Honoring the presence of Spirit in all things. - Being relaxed, silent - Giving and receiving love (circulation of goodness). - Optimum Attitude----trusting, open, positive, accepting, heart-felt and enjoying. - Sharing unique talents.
To develop these attitudes, we should understand, feel and practice three major points:
1. Know your aspirations: - Maintain what is working for you in your life. - Add what enhances peace, love, awareness and joy. - Discard anything standing in the way of well being.
2. Connect with the Self/Supreme Self to manifest your aspirations.
3. Share your unique talents selflessly.
As we begin to practice these ways of being, we'll discover that the universe rushes in to co-operate with our new life, and we will be well on our way to living a more serene and splendid life.
