There is not a single person who is not subjected to peaks and valleys in the process of living life. Generally speaking, when one is presented a great situation, one feels elated, gives oneself credit and dances on the peak of one’s life. When the same person is confronted with a rather depressing situation, she/he feels depressed, frustrated, complains and starts to slide on the valley of life. Like a pendulum, there is continuous shift from one extreme to another and there is hardly any equilibrium to enjoy peace, love and fulfillment in life. I myself had been subjected to such a state over a real long period of time till I realized a key that reduces the impact of these peaks and valleys to a bare minimum. This bare minimum is like ripples compared to peaks and valleys. This state could reasonably be considered as the working equilibrium of life. I thought of sharing this key which is called, “The ARL Key That Works. It has three major components as follows:
A = Acceptance: Acceptance is an agreement to the reality of the moment such as situations (as they are- not as they should be) presented by Nature, personal strengths and weaknesses. Acceptance also includes realization of the controllable and the uncontrollable aspects in our lives. The controllable refers to some control that we have on ourselves while the uncontrollable refers to a clear understanding that we have no control on situations as well as on others with whom we consistently interact. The most powerful part of acceptance is the acknowledgment of the presence of the inherent spiritual power in us that sustains us, guides us, observes us and enthralls us in all walks of our lives.By deciding to utilize this inner power we can proceed to turn all situations around to our benefit and to the benefit of all those who interact with us. It is important to understand that acceptance is not submission due to helplessness, rejection, fear, indecision, ignorance, confusion and doubt etc.
R = Responding: Responding means to answer calmly from the inner source and not retaliate to pay back in the same coin. Responding incorporates an attitude of trusting in the Self, openness, positivism, and acceptance and enjoying the moment. Present moment presence is an essential part of responding. Responding seeks answers from the internal source and expresses them in the outside world according to the way the people understand. Responding needs creative communication techniques, which are the reflections of the intuitive process. The source for responding is the inherent inner power and the vehicle to express the internal response is the full utilization of body, senses, mind and intellect.
L = Letting Go: Having responded in our level best way we need to relieve ourselves from clinging to the outcomes of what we have done. If we don’t do so, we will be desperately waiting for certain expectations to materialize. They may or they may not materialize. Why to glue ourselves to something that is not sure at all? It is this over-dwelling of expectations that cause unnecessary attachment. Isn’t it wise then to leave to Nature to accept our best possible response in its overall orchestration of the universal activity? By so doing, we gain freedom/ care-freeness, extra energy to start fresh and readiness to take on the next assignment. While we have a full responsibility to perform in the best possible way, we also have a responsibility to free ourselves consistently so that we can consistently perform and enjoy at the same time.
In a group session that I recently lead in Canada, the group members gave me the following feed back on Let Go:
- Let go is a release from anger, fear and other toxins - Let go is being free from whatever is bothering you. - Let Go is doing your level best and let it be left to God
Practice of let go leads a person: - from impatience to patience - from expectations to non-attachment (in specific area) to detachment (total) - from control to freedom - from fighting with Nature to flowing with Nature - from the fear of the unknown to the trust in Infinity( God, truth, knowing, peace, freedom, empowerment and trust in self and universe)
All of us are privileged to understand this unique ARL key and utilize it in our day to day life so that our encounters in our lives become more meaningful, more revealing and more joyful. Why not go for it?
