7. Must We Fear Or Resist Evil?
By Ram P. Varma
Author "This Splendid World of Yours" and "Be Still and Know ..."

Sharing some thoughts on the subject matter:

Besides major setbacks, life can wear us down with insignificant frustrations too, such as, unpleasant aggravations, unfinished business, undue criticism, or unexpected delays. Worrying over life's little clutters is like garbage that can either accumulate or you can dispose this garbage. This reminds me of a little poem:

For every evil under the sun, Either there is a cure,
Or there is none.
If there be one,
Seek until you find it.
If there be none,
Never mind it.

Learn by doing the little things right first, frustration will then have no power over you. While there are therapies, medications and support groups available to help in desperate situations, I find that the best strategy to deal with these challenges is to resort fully to the following self-help techniques:

1. Whatever has triggered loneliness and fear, accept the situation as it is. We have no control on the situations; however, we have some control on us. Have courage not to complain or grumble about it. Decide fully to turn it around. Remember (and remember it well), no one is going to help you if you don't help yourself. This is the key!! It is a hard reality but it is a reality by itself. Accept it and accept it well.

2. The cause of loneliness and fear is desperation and lack of self- trust. You can gradually practice to turn to silence and stillness that are connected to self-sufficiency and trust in the Self and the Supreme Self. In this silence, you will discover your inner strength and your inherent connection. You will gradually start to experience your rejuvenation and optimism which will go a long way to give you freedom from these slow killers.

3. Consistently, give yourself positive and uplifting affirmations. Don't be afraid to say aloud (in solitude) that you are a free, self- sufficient and a loving person. In any case dwell as many times, as you like on the essence of this message rather than deploring yourself otherwise. Remember, whatever you dwell on that's what you become.

4. Find out your unique talents and render selfless service according to your uniqueness. I discovered long time ago that I enjoyed sharing meditation (of the Self), spirituality and public speaking. I am consistently learning and fulfilling myself through teaching equipped with these unique talents. In this process, when you give selflessly you are spontaneously fulfilled and you have a wonderful association of genuine people. Dwell in silence to know what is your uniqueness and share it unconditionally and abundantly. You will be self-guided as to how to do it.

5. Last but not the least, look after your health well. Medication, good diet, exercises, divine healing and good company help in maintaining good health. Under no circumstances be negligent about health. It is important to keep good health to enjoy, share and become self-sufficient. Doing anything at the cost of health is lack of awareness. Be aware of yourself and your health!
One needs to be inspired to get back on the creative track of life. We all get inspiration from somewhere. I believe it is all around. Some find it in the eyes of a loved one, in the woods among the trees, in the clouds, well, you get the idea. I have also heard that some people have been inspired by money or impending deadline!

Make sure your life is eliminated from excessive stress. Excessive, continual stress can be damaging to your emotional and physical health. If you are suffering from undue stress, then explore practical steps you can take to reduce stress. The way I overcame undue stress in my life was not by denying, rationalizing, narcotizing or avoiding it. Let me show you my way and the way how I dealt with it.

In conjunction with regular meditations, I started to enjoy many other silent moments such as being in Nature, being on the wavelength of uplifting/soothing music and being comfortable and at peace with Self (not alone). Once I started to practice listening to the Self in me and being with it; soon, I discovered that in realty I was never alone. Loneliness and fear of insecurity were just artificial figments of mind. The more I was silent and still, the more I got my power back and I found myself in the right place for myself and for others!! I know this worked for me and when I had started to share this process with many others they were amazed at the miraculous results. The world that seemed like a sad and suffocating place to live, all of a sudden, transformed and began offering its magical splendors. You may approach to your stress in a different way, such as learning to relax your body and mind by doing regular meditations and learning to laugh more. A cheerful lady once shared with, "Laughter that is surpassed goes down and spreads to your hips." Do yourself a favor and laugh once in a while. Finally, one piece of advice, never carry your burdens alone. Open up your heart and share with others.
Just decide to be free, find your way of freedom and stay with it. Slow and steady wins the race. Keep at it!!!
