Reincarnation

In simple words:

Reincarnation, in simple words, means understanding death , life after death, how to cope with it and what are the lessons we learn from such an understanding? .

The most important piece of understanding required in this case is that the body is temporary. It can live only for a certain period of time and then it needs to be replaced. With the same token the vital energy that sustains this body is permanent. The body ceases in course of time but the spirit that sustains the body does not cease. The body is changeable but the indwelling spirit is not changeable. The simplest way to understand death is that when the spirit that created and sustained the body decides to disappear from the body it leaves the body behind as lifeless and that is death. However, on the worldly scene, it may appear that there are so many reasons such as disease, accident or suicide etc. that may have caused the death. They are only identifiable reasons for death but they are not death. It is perfectly all right to associate such causes for death.

What happens after death? The spirit goes back and joins the Supreme Spirit that is all pervading and sustaining the whole universe. The spirit takes back with it the Divine Disk of Impressions (DDI). It is an unseen disk that has stored in it the impressions of all the actions a person has performed in the past of this life and the past of the previous lives. It also carries with it the last aspiration(s) a person may have. This is the communication link with the Universal Disk of Impressions (UDI). There is certain period of communications although the speed of communication is so fast that it is incomprehensible at the intellect's level. In course of time decision is made for the next journey. An environment in commensurate with past balance sheet, the last moment's unfulfilled deep aspiration and the universal plans of orchestration, the soul is given a place and body for rebirth. In other words, wherever a person left his position at the time of death, he picks up his threads again and restarts his journey. This process keeps going till the person's full attention is fully focused (one) with his soul/spirit. Then in the overall scheme of Supreme Spirit a spiritual move is made in full harmony as it suits the universal purpose. .

How to cope with the death of a dear one? Once the above transcendental knowledge is understood and practiced in daily life then there is no big hassle to cope with the departure of a dear one. Of course, it is natural for a person to grieve, to miss a dear association and to feel lonely (in case of an intimate relation). However, it is important to understand that no amount of grieving and crying is going to get this person back to life. With this true understanding, a person will not cling to the misery of that physical loss.

Once a person understands that the departing soul has gone back to join the Supreme Soul for further journey and for further evolution then it is also natural for the people left behind to give good wishes. As such it is wise for everyone born on earth to love, to cooperate and to enjoy friendship, association and relationship but not cling to it. It is the clinging, it is the desperation for having been left alone and it is the lack of proper understanding that makes the separation difficult. Once the truth is understood, it will set the grieving person free and it will also be a good vibration for the departing soul. So understand the truth as it is in reality (explained above) and not as it should be. After a reasonable grieving, let it go. Also it is time for you to identify your unique talents, use them in the service of community and keep yourself busy in such service. Practice daily meditations and be peaceful. You will be able to overcome the loss of your dear one.

What is my ultimate lesson that I must learn in this life?

There are three aspects to the splendor of human life. All these aspects must be learnt and practiced in this life. These aspects are:

The intrinsic nature of each and every human being is that of truth/freedom, awareness and joyfulness. Whatever the lessons and whatever the means are required to reach this plateau they should be picked up in this life. Basically, these three components represent the true identity of the Self/Spirit. Essentially it calls for establishing one self in this spiritual mode so that all activities of life are conducted as guided by the inner teacher. It is only then there is a glorification to living this life.

The second aspect to the lesson to be learnt is that the indwelling spirit is eternal. It is the same for ever. This Self is said to be unseen, unchangeable and a part and parcel of the all-pervading supreme energy that sustains the whole universe. Only the bodies of which this imperishable Self is the indweller are said to have an end. So the embodied Self casts-off worn out bodies and enters into others that are new. Being established in this wisdom, why then lament or grieve for departing souls? It does not mean it is wrong to bereave temporarily for the lost associations. Having understood the reality, a prudent person rises above the physical losses and identifies his/her permanence in the spirit what he/she truly is. This lesson needs to be understood and practiced now while living life rather left to be learnt during the last phase of life.

The third aspect relates to the Infinity. People generally talk conventionally and religiously about heaven and other such kingdoms. They are lead to believe and fantasize their eligibility at the time of death. Some religious leaders even go to the extent to tell people that they will hold their hands to take them to such places of abundance, material pleasures and other excitements to the infinite extent. There is no such thing as a special physical place demarcated for heaven like kingdoms at the time of death. However, there is a spiritual heaven and spiritual kingdom of God. To reach there you don't need to wait for your death. While living life as guided by the indwelling spirit, you can spontaneously connect to the Infinity. Infinity simply means unlimited energy, resources, knowledge/awareness, peace, love and joy. The lesson to be learnt in this respect is to live life of infinity now with a mode of self-connection. There is absolutely no need to desperately keep on relying on others, e.g., the religious preachers who guarantee heaven for a certain price and material sacrifices. You are infinite by your intrinsic nature. Recognize that infinite nature. Learn and practice being tuned to that original inheritance. That's a great lesson in itself.

These are the various aspects all human beings are supposed to pick up right in this life. But if they cannot complete this learning in this life then they will pick up from where they left in their previous life and so on. No harm is done if not completed in this life. Wherever you left it from, Nature will provide the environment and all the facilities for you to start from there and keep going till all these lessons are learnt and practiced. However, there should be ongoing dedication to learn and practice all these lessons now in the current life so that it becomes a joyful experience.
